There are several reasons for why couples are now opting for much smaller weddings rather than big and lavish ones. The biggest problem with a large wedding is the cost and often couples find themselves still paying for it long after it has taken place.

Although elaborate and expensive have been the fashion for many years now because of all the celebrity ones , smaller weddings are now starting to become fashionable once more. Certainly if you are looking for a wedding that is more personal and intimate this is the ideal one for you.

But although your wedding may be small it does not mean it has to be informal, simple or cheap. Certainly a small wedding will not be as expensive as a large wedding because guest's numbers are much less but you can still make it lavish if you want.

When we talk about small weddings we are not talking about the location, or how much the food etc., costs we are talking about the number of guests that the bride and groom invite. These kinds of weddings are often restricted to close family members and friends of the couple who are getting married.

Because the guest numbers are much smaller with this wedding the bride and groom are able to focus more of their time and energy into the areas of their wedding that they consider to be important. Certainly this may well mean that they are able to actually have their wedding and honeymoon abroad rather than at home.

Certainly more and more people who choose a small wedding have a much larger selection of destinations where this happy event can take place. Along with the Caribbean many couples are choosing some unique places for their weddings to take place in. Some couples go for the glitz and glamour of Las Vegas whilst others have had theirs at an old castle or at a mountain lodge.

However if you really want to save money and are not intending to travel for your wedding there are things which one can do to further help with the costs in relation to a small wedding. Firstly many couples will host a reception at some hotel but instead the reception can be held in a family member?s home or at a restaurant that both the bride and groom enjoy.

As you can see small weddings can be as elaborate or as simple as the couple whose big day it is wants. Just what kind of small wedding they have will depend on what they are willing to spend on it. What each couple should remember is that this is their special day and be one that they and their guests will remember for years to come.
